family staycation in charleston,sc
Have you been dreaming of a getaway but can’t make any domestic/foreign travel plans just yet? Well, our little family of three just had the most fun getaway right in the heart of downtown. We “vacationed” at Hotel Emeline located near Market Street in Downtown Charleston, SC. We live just about 20 minutes away but hardly go downtown with the family, and especially during this time it can be hard to travel with a young one! We were so glad that Hotel Emeline had everything there that we needed conveniently at the hotel as well as being within walking distance from all of the food and convenient stores! What I really loved walking into our beautifully decorated and curated styled room was that fully equipped was a pack’n’play for our little one who is two! That was honestly such a nice gesture, and it was already set up! Can you believe that? As you mommas know, and parents traveling with kids to anything even dinner is a hassle – so having that one step ahead of the game like the pack n play being ready for Maverick to take a nap was truly a blessing and we’re thankful to Emeline for that!

1. Decor: I’d describe this hotel as a chic almost tropical getaway by the style that they chose. It is very trendy and I loved all of the art and wall paper they had in the hotel! Above is pictured the headboard of the suite we stayed in! It was super comfy! I was immediately drawn in by all of the vibes and plants! Love all of the plants there! Another favorite thing was we were welcomed by music and an amazing valet staff! Emeline is continuously playing music in the background and all over the hotel! I LOVE that aspect and they even incorporated that into our room suites! Every room comes equipped with a Crosley Record player! WHAT! This has made me want one for my own home. Music choice was so on point! I thought it was Mid Century modern with lots of high contrasting decors that also utilized multi-functional space, it’s everything I’ve really ever dreamed of in a home! The bathroom was amazing and was the connecting space between our sliding door to our bedroom within our suite! We stayed in a suite that had a bar, mini fridge, living space, dining table, and a separate room for our bedroom! Both rooms within or suite had TV’s as well and overlooked Hank’s Seafood Restaurant!

2. Dining: This overall experience was spectacular! We loved loved the baristas and will definitely be popping in here and there for date nights and even girls nights! Am I right mommas? They had a really cool bar seating where you had a private sliding window with a push to order button. Once you were ready to order, you’d push a button and the sliding door wood open within minutes, and a baristas head would peep through and you’d order, then get your drink and then the sliding door would close! It was like a private dining experience (cue if you like privacy and not people). This was such a cool feature, but also the servers at @Frannieandthefox were so great! That is the bar/restaurant that they have downstairs near the front desk!Â
Some dishes that we had were the Margherita Pizza and the Pepperoni Pizza for late night room service from Frannie and The Fox the first night we stayed there. Our whole family thoroughly enjoyed this meal and my 2 year old son and I had 6 slices total okay maybe 8. The second night my husband and I got to dine at Frannie and the fox and we shared a bunch of small plates including the Meatballs, Grilled Shrimp, and Corn! All were so delicious and bursting of flavors. Not a sad face in the house. Now, I want to reiterate this, the SERVICE was PHENOMENAL. OUT. STAND.ING! We know that a lot of restaurants are hurting right now and a lot of servers are not in a good place but these people seemed genuinely happy to be there and serve us which was such a change of pace! Everything was done right to the T! My husband and I’s favorite overall dining experience was the baristas, the pepperoni pizza, and the meatballs! They also have a coffee shop called Clerks Coffee Company! We had the chance to stop by for a snack and coffees everyday of course! We definitely needed that caffeine kick as parents and Maverick was able to have a bakery item!Â

4. Amenities:Â I really love the ease of the location because it was so close to everything, the only thing that they didn’t have is a pool. Which is understandably so because they’re a little more uppity and not your average Hilton Inn (I love Hilton too!!) these are just very different vibes. They have ease of access for valet services for guests, and their valet staff is above par! We’ve had great conversations with them and almost always our car was brought up immediately when needed. Emeline is easily in the heart of Charleston located on Church Street and across from popular seafood restaurants and The Market. Another great thing is there is the waterfront park with amazing views for the family and the kids. Perfect picturesque spots to stroll along for a Gullah Geechee History Tour and the black history that has shadowed over Charleston. There is also a great coffee shop called Clerk’s Coffee Co. and they make a really good iced macchiato and serve breakfast, lunch, and brunch! The hotel is not providing coffee makers in their rooms like usual but provide free room service and coffee from their coffee shop straight to room suite upon calling down for room service every morning! A huge plus! They serve local Second State Coffee there as well so supporting local Charleston! Maverick and I enjoyed some pastry items as well as coffee! Next time I’ll stop in there for lunch and try their sandwiches! One of the best parts if you’re easily located in between 3 beaches that are within 15-30 minutes from the hotel! You have Folly Beach, Isle of Palms, and my favorite Sullivan’s Island. Make sure you google up the rules and regulations for each beach, because they do have different rules for each one!

5. Ease of Access: Right now they’re having so many promotions and specials to book at the hotel, you can call to either check their specials and even upgrades that come with credits to their restaurants and bars! This is a must have to check off of your lists of experiences to do whether you’re a local Charleston resident or an out of towner looking for the overall experience! Check-in and check-out was super easy! We called ahead of time to ask for a special check in time and they were able to accommodate if you call them directly instead of going through a third party! I cannot wait for you to experience Emeline in Charleston, SC!
