Why Get Away?
Wow! was it a great vacation away from home, it was much-needed as the hustle and bustle of everyday life became so routine. Getting away is seriously a must have with your family especially when trying to keep the spark alive I believe. Vacations force you to go out of your comfort zone and explore the unknown (I know it sounds cheesy but it’s so true!) For two years my husband and I did not really take a real vacation we went to Myrtle Beach, SC which is an hour and a half away from where we live for a weekend and we also went right outside of Asheville, NC for our Honeymoon for 4 days. Both were mini vacations to us and we quickly had to return home for our daily and weekly work weeks. Working can wear on you and be stressful! So, for the sake of your mental health as well as the health of your relationships take a break! I think everyone should get away for at least one week every year.
Our Vacation
On our trip we honestly did not really do much historical sight seeing as The Bahamas resort we stayed on was very touristy. We did things like walking on the beach, laying out by the pool, and of course unlimited drinks at the bar! A lot of the time we really just took time to relax and enjoy each other’s company without any interruptions. It is really hard these days because we now have a baby in our lives. At home everything was us three. At home, we would have to plan our day if we wanted to do anything around our baby’s schedule. So it was refreshing to not have any worries or not have to worry about driving anywhere since everything we needed was on the resort we stayed at! Another great tip is if you’re planning a vacation or trip always try to look for “all-inclusive”. That way you’re not having to pay extra for everyday things like food and drinks as well as activities!
The Resort
The resort was stunning that we chose for our vacation with the locals being literally right next to us. Also, the market was within a 10-minute drive from us if we wanted to do some shopping. The water was crystal clear and blue. The temperature of the water was a little cold during this time so I didn’t get into it, but the weather was perfect! During the day highs in the 70s and at night it was get down to the high 50s but not that bad all together. The rooms were very cute and quaint. We really enjoyed the pool amenities and Jacuzzi of course. There was a little disco bar open as well but we did not really go in there as it was literally a disco room with a disco ball — I think this would be great for college students but as parents we really just wanted to do some R&R. We definitely got that experience here! With better planning next time I would like to go and tour the town instead of just stay on the resort next time.
The Cruise
My favorite thing about the cruise was probably the friendly staff! They were seriously on call every time we had any requests, they had our leftover dinner sent to our cabin suite! How convenient and nice is that! They also fixed our TV that was not working a well. Our cabin was very spacious and a lot nicer than regular cabins. We had an ocean view suite on the top deck! Cruises are a little expensive though because the alcohol! That is how they get you. Alcohol was very expensive on the ship. We would definitely need to plan better next time after this experience because that was a big cost on our vacation.
The Food
Wow, the food on the ship was amazing! I don’t know how they manage to make or have all of this wonderful food on the ship! I loved every meal I had! I wish I had taken our reservations for our dinners at the resort, but we were having too much fun to actually go to a restaurant on the day we reserved it. We got distracted because we had met a fun couple that we really connected with! On the resort we ate the buffet food that was included in our package which to be honest was not good at all to me. I really enjoyed my dishes on board of the Grand Celebration Cruise ship though. The food was delicious.
Next Vacation
We had so much fun getting away just the two of us, but we really missed our baby so much since it was our first time being away for a week from him. It was a lot, I cried because I missed him so much. So next time we go on this long of a trip we are taking him, next year we are planning on going to Greece with our baby! With better planning we are excited on our next adventure and vacation as a family! Our mini trip will be Hilton Head, SC and a weekend in Las Vegas! I can’t wait to share my adventures with you! Comment below where you want to go and why?
